Company Profile

History of Baird & Hayes

Baird & Hayes formed in 1946 when Ken Baird returned from World War 2. Ken Baird was known to have taken on jobs throughout Southern and Western Queensland, sometimes mounted on camels where conditions were too rough for a truck. Keith Hayes commenced work with Ken Baird in the 1950’s, and became the second Principal in the 1970’s.

Ken Baird and Keith Hayes developed the practice and built a reputation for technical excellence and dedicated professionalism as well as good old fashioned service. This tradition continues today in our motto of QUALITY, VALUE, SERVICE, and FRIENDLINESS.

Peter Henry was the third surveyor to become the Principal, taking over the business after Keith Hayes retired in the year 2000.

Our Service Area

Baird & Hayes focus on servicing the Western Development Corridor from Brisbane to Toowoomba. Notwithstanding, we have also worked from the Hunter Valley to Mt Isa and from Stradbroke Island to Ballera in the far West Queensland. We pride ourselves on our relationship with our local Ipswich City Council as well as our long history with the Scenic Rim Regional, Lockyer Valley Regional, Somerset Regional and Brisbane City Councils. Our scope is broad and we can apply the same knowledge we have to any location. Please contact us to find out more about where we can help you today.

Our Ability to Respond

Baird & Hayes enjoy being one of Queensland’s many small businesses because we know we are able to provide a fast turn-around for documentation and develop close relationships with our clients. Our Clients

Our clients range from investment and development companies to individuals or family trusts who wish to develop land for residential, commercial or industrial building projects.  We have a broad experience with clients involved in land development and mining industries and various types of rural industries such as quarries and batching plants. Whilst a large percentage of our business is associated with locally based private land owners, investors and companies, we also have many clients from Local and State Government Sectors, Building and Plumbing Contractors, Bulk Water Supply Authorities and other Services Authorities. We therefore understand the importance of limiting project costs and managing approvals within the statutory timeframes.

Our Capacity

As a small Queensland business, we offer a personalised service and quick turnaround for your project enquiries, surveying and planning needs. We work closely with a variety of other consultants to obtain specialised engineering, environmental and architectural expertise as required. We have the capacity to help with all your property development needs. Meet Our Team at Baird and Hayes.

Our Location

After a fire destroyed our Ipswich office building known as Trustee Chambers in 1993, the company moved to the existing premises at 77 Roderick Street in Ipswich. Surveyors, planners, administrative and support staff are all located in the one office to deliver a seamless operation for our clients. We are within walking distance of Ipswich City Council Chambers and have plenty of parking available. Please click here to find out more about how to contact us.

Our Quality Assurance

Baird & Hayes follow Quality Assurance Procedures for checking and final reviewing of all documentation before it leaves our office. All projects are reviewed on a weekly basis to check progress of applications and to ensure that no unnecessary delays are encountered.
